We have been fitting mostly true to size. Some customers depending on what they have going on with fit have had to go up. It’s not many though Alright, I have to be honest. I have a soft spot for a little extra cushion in my running shoes. Don´t get me wrong, I love my slimmed down, 7oz, no-nonsense racing flats, but when it comes to pounding the pavement to get my daily miles in, I really enjoy the cushion. The Torin 5 strikes a nice balance between soft and responsive in their Altra EGO MAX sole.

If you aren’t used to lower or Zero Drop shoes, it’s a good idea to gradually increase the time you spend in the shoes, alternating with your current shoes. It is a little lighter due to the new Ego Max Midsole. Altra’s shoes like the Escalante , the new Lone Peak, and Rivera have a bouncy, lightweight, soft feel due to their Ego Midsole. The Torin 5 will have a midsole similar to what we have seen in those shoes but slightly more elevated. New shoes from Altra coming down the line will include this new Ego Max midsole. Eventually, Altra will have shoes that are just Ego, and then Ego Max. These midsoles will make the price points higher and lower depending on how much the shoe’s ego max has. A Lightweight, Comfortable Distance Shoe Hello! I feel you, the Torin 4 was pretty amazing. It did have a mid foot wrap like no other. The Phantom does not have a bootie sewn in but the tongue isn’t sliding around. We probably sell 2-1 Phantom to Torins. The soft mesh upper of the Torin 5 is one of the most breathable and comfortable that I’ve come across. A padded heel collar and thin tongue round out the fit of an excellent upper. By the way, it’s not too good to be true as the upper is very secure, hugging your foot with that airy mesh. I found this shoe runs slightly long. Some runners may have to size down a half size. I would probably still be happy in my usual size 11, but the 10.5 I am testing fits close to perfect. TAYLOR: The Torin 5 adopts Altra’s new EgoMax midsole, similar to the AltraEGO foam in the Rivera. The “Max,” though, essentially means more of that EGO midsole. Despite more cush than the last iteration, the Torin sees a cut in weight (9.3 ounces for a men’s 10.5) and a whole lot more responsiveness than what came from the old midsole.In Summary the Altra Torin 5 is an everyday training shoe that would be very well suited to newer runners getting into Zero Drop and rounded toe box running shoes seeking a shoe for comfortable regular runs and longer slower-paced or recovery runs for the more experienced runner. The Zero Drop and broad rounded toe box are a huge benefit and I strongly believe giving your feet the room to function is important in reducing the chance of injuries and allows your feet and lower legs to get stronger the more you run. By the spring of 2019, the Torin 4 came out. This was a two-year shoe, and for my shop, I think this was our favorite Altra that we had in here. I know for a road shoe, the Escalante was a massive change for Altra, but as far as people just put on a shoe and were really happy with the fit and feel, the Torin 4 was an awesome shoe. During gait analysis you will be asked to walk and run on our in-store treadmill whilst your movements are recorded using the latest Daftfish software. A slow-motion, detailed analysis will show and explain your biomechanics, specifically looking at pronation, the inward-turning movement that occurs when your foot touches the ground. During walking and running this acts as cushioning for the body. Have you thought about using some blister shield roll on to help with rubbing on baby toe? Altra def knows about the tongue on this shoe. It was a miss and is not as comfortable as the 4. The 4 was magic and in my opinion one of the best Altra shoes of all time. This is a max cushion neutral shoe, which is Altra’s most cushioned road shoe. The Altra Duo was a big super crazy cushioned shoe and very comfortable. It looked like a true big boy over there on our wall. Now that shoe is out of the lineup; the Torin is now the biggest max cushion shoe you can get from Altra. this is going to be your friend for all your long kind of stuff. What I liked in the Update
